“GEOSA” organizes a workshop on empowering knowledge and innovation in the geospatial sector
The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information, in collaboration with the University of Melbourne,
hosted a two-day workshop titled “Enabling Knowledge and Innovation in the Geospatial Sector.” This event
brought together specialists and experts in geospatial knowledge and innovation, along with representatives from
government, private industry, academia, and non-profit organizations.
This workshop reflects the commitment of the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information to enhance
national capabilities in surveying, geospatial information, and related imaging. In partnership with
universities and specialized institutes both within and beyond the Kingdom, the initiative aims to enable
knowledge and innovation in the geospatial sector. The focus will be on utilizing geospatial techniques and
analysis to create smart solutions, manage cognitive cities, and enhance the impact of geospatial information in
supporting national security, development, and economic growth.
The workshop explored the concept of geospatial knowledge and innovation, focusing on its significance and
impact on major national development projects. It also highlighted the roles of government, private, academic,
and non-profit sectors in integrating geospatial technologies with other advanced technologies to promote
sustainability and comprehensive development. Additionally, the discussions aimed to stimulate investment growth
in the geospatial sector and contribute to enhancing the quality of life.
It is important to note that, in accordance with its regulations, geospatial services are responsible for
organizing, enhancing, supervising, and monitoring the fields of surveying, geospatial information, and related
imaging within the Kingdom. These efforts aim to ensure quality and improve overall performance.
