The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) participated in the World Geospatial Forum (WGF) 2026, April 27 - May 1, 2026, convened at the RAI Amsterdam, the Netherlands. This participation comes as a part of GEOSA’s objectives to highlight the Kingdom’s experience in developing the geospatial sector, and to showcase innovative solutions and enablers designed to build a more efficient and sustainable future. GEOSA’s delegation at the forum was chaired by Eng. Ahmed bin Saleh Al-Waseedi, GEOSA Vice President.
This World Geospatial Forum (WGF) 2026 is one of the most prominent international gatherings specialized in the geospatial sector. The event attended by 500 speakers, 2,000 attendees from 100 countries, as well as 75 exhibitors and 50 partners. The forum is a global platform to discuss the geospatial information future, showcase the Art-of-State technologies, and to share experiences and expertise in more ultimate among specialists and decision-makers. On the sidelines of the forum, GEOSA was participating in the accompanying ally with a dedicated booth that showcased KSA experience in developing the geospatial sector. The booth highlighted GEOSA’s efforts in regulating, empowering, promoting and enhancing the sector, and developing the National Geospatial Data Infrastructure (NGDI). These efforts aim to enhance data reliability, increase integration among entities, and support the efficiency of planning and support evidence-based decision-making across various development fields. The booth featured a display of several geospatial initiatives, enablers, services, and products, most notably the National Geospatial Platform, which served as a national enabler for integrating geospatial data and information, enhancing its reliability, and making it accessible to the users in accordance with national geospatial governance frameworks. Furthermore, the booth showcased GEOSA’s activities in the fields of survey, geospatial information, the National Geodetic Infrastructure, mapping, and hydrographic survey. It also highlights the role of geospatial data in supporting development projects and developing innovative geospatial solutions.
GEOSA was also participating in several dialogue sessions associated with the forum, one of it is a session titled 'Small Island Developing States: Needs, Challenges, and Solutions.', which addressing environmental and economic challenges, and pathways for developing capacity in the field of data, digitalization, and enhancing partnership. Additionally, GEOSA was taking part in 'Open Data and Security Session: Building a Trust in Geospatial Knowledge Infrastructure (GKI),' which discussed enabling access to data in.
