H.E. GEOSA President Dr. Mohammed bin Yahya Alsayel chaired the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information delegation participated in the 22nd annual DGI Geospatial Intelligence for National Security conference (DGI 2026), in London from February 23 -25.

The DGI 2026 attended by broad international participation from military and security leaders, geospatial information experts, as well as major technology companies and specialized entities in space and analytical solutions. The conference is the world’s leading international Military Space and Geospatial Intelligence platform, bringing both the Public and private sectors to discuss challenges faced geospatial data security, showcase the state- of- the- art technologies harnessing artificial intelligence AI, imagery and remote sensing to fuse, analyse and exploit ways to protect geospatial infrastructure.

The DGI 2026 panel Sessions addressed the importance of integration between defence institutions, regulatory bodies, and technology providers to build a safe and resilient geospatial system capable to deal with diverse threats and growing cyber risks, while underscoring the role of governance and legislative frameworks in regulating geospatial data exchange and promoting its use in aresponsible and sustainable manner.

During the proceedings, the GEOSA president delivered a keynote speech affirming geospatial security as a fundamental pillar of national security, given its direct impact on protecting critical infrastructure and supporting decision-making. He noted that embedding this concept requires the integration of technology with effective governance and regulatory frameworks; qualifying the national capacity ; advancing the maturity of geospatial infrastructure, data governance, policy and standards development; and classifying data according to sensitivity levels to achieve a balance between accessibility and protection.

Additionally, Dr. Alsayel emphasized the importance of strengthening information integrity, ensuring accuracy, safeguarding confidentiality, and regulating data exchange. This will contribute to a secure geospatial environment that supports economic stability and community security, while aligning with sustainable development goals.

In this regard, GEOSA is acting on the mission assigned to it by virtue of its own organization, to regulate the sector of survey, geospatial information and imaging in the Kingdom, including coordination and cooperation with its counterparts in other countries and with relevant international agencies and organizations, as well as representing the Kingdom locally and internationally.
