Saudi Arabia Chairs 13th UN-GGIM Arab States Meeting in Tunisia

Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA), chaired the 13th meeting of the Regional Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management for Arab States (UN-GGIM-AS) in the Republic of Tunisia on February 3-4. The meeting was attended by representatives from Arab States, along with relevant regional and international organizations.

During the meeting, participants reviewed the meeting’s agenda items. Including the Committee’s annual report and the contributions of the United Nations and other international organizations in the field of geospatial information. Discussions also covered the work of the Global Geodetic Reference Frame Working Group, the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework Working Group (IGIF), and the Geospatial Governance Working Group.

The agenda also featured presentations of several national experiences from member states. The Kingdom showcased its experience in geospatial maturity assessment, highlighting its global leadership in the sector and its ongoing pursuit of excellence in this field.

The meeting attended by a number of officials, experts, and specialists from Arab member states, as well as representatives of the Secretariat of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management, in addition to international experts and organizations relevant to the sector.
