The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) to enhance mutual collaboration and unify efforts toward the development of a comprehensive and indexed Unified Gazetteer of Geographical Names covering all places across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The initiative aims to use technological advancements in supporting Arabic language processing and to strengthen the global prominence of the Arabic language as a linguistic reference in the digital era.

Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, was signed for and on behalf of KSGAAL, and H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Yahya Al-Sayel, the President of the Geospatial Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information, signed for and on behalf of GEOSA. Both parties emphasized that this partnership seeks to establish authoritative reference databases, support the use of artificial intelligence technologies in the automated processing of geographical names, and enhance the cultural content associated with the Arabic language.

This initiative is a part of KSGAAL’s strategic efforts to achieve the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, by developing innovative technological solutions that promote the Arabic language both locally and globally. It also complements GEOSA’s role as the official national authority for all matters related to geographical names in the Kingdom and as the primary reference for the National Committee on Geographical Names.
