The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) and the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) officially launched the outcomes of their cooperation project to develop and manage the geospatial system.

The partnership is part of GEOSA's broader effort to establish a robust national geospatial infrastructure, aligning with global best practices to enhance the positive and sustainable impact of geospatial data across multiple sectors.

The cooperation serves as a model for effective international collaboration, supporting the integration of geospatial information into public, private, academic, and non-profit sectors, and advancing national development priorities.

GEOSA President Mohammed bin Yahya Al Sayel emphasized the importance of continued collaboration and knowledge exchange between GEOSA and SLA in areas of shared interest. He expressed appreciation for the joint working group whose contributions were instrumental to the project's success between 2023 and 2025. Al Sayel also commended the fruitful cooperation with the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).

For his part, Mr. Colin Low, Chief executive of the SLA, commended the fruitful cooperation with GEOSA, emphasizing the importance of knowledge exchange and sharing of best practices between the two authorities.

As part of the project, both parties worked to strengthen ties between the Arab Committee of Experts, chaired by Saudi Arabia, and the UN Asian Committee of Experts on Geospatial Information Management, represented by Singapore. The Arab Committee shared insights on developing geospatial governance and infrastructure, while the Asian Committee contributed its expertise in disaster management and land administration.

A highlight of the event was the launch of a comprehensive publication documenting the achievements of the 2023–2025 cooperation period, structured around five key pillars: geospatial standards, geospatial platforms, geospatial data, geospatial intelligence, and geospatial excellence.

In recognition of its contributions, GEOSA was honoured with the Excellence in Geospatial Development Award by the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE)—the government agency tasked with supporting Singapore's international partnerships and development initiatives.

It is worth noting that, in accordance with its mandate, the Authority’s mission is to regulate, develop, supervise, and monitor the Survey and Geospatial Information and Imaging Sector in the Kingdom. GEOSA is also entrusted with representing Saudi Arabia at national and international levels in its areas of competence, as well as coordinating and cooperating with its counterparts in other countries and with relevant international organizations and bodies.
