The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) posted a collection of Historical Aerial Ortho-Photographs of KSA major cities covering 13 regions, the oldest dates back to 1951. The photographs document the stages of urban and development transformations in the Kingdom over more than seven decades. The dissemination of this Photographs coincides with the 95th Saudi National Day, underscoring the role of geospatial information as a place and time witness to the Kingdom’s comprehensive development and rapid progress. The images show the changes that have taken place in all regions, the urban expansion, vegetation cover, and the many forms of growth and prosperity achieved under the Kingdom’s leadership.

The historical photographs disseminated by GEOSA are captured at various times and in different regions of the Kingdom. They were collected in cooperation and coordination with a number of government authorities to serve as historical georeferencing after processing and projecting onto the coordinate reference system. and compiling aerial images mosaic according to region, year of production, and scale. These photographs are available through the National Geospatial Platform in the form of mosaic aerial images and ortho photo maps with digitally readable coordinates.

It is worth mentioning that, the General Authority for Surveying and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) is an official body assigned to regulate, develop, supervise and monitor the sector of survey, geospatial information and imaging in the Kingdom, in a manner that achieves quality and enhance the performance.
