GEOSA Wins Gold Stevie Award for Geospatial VR Training Program

The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) has achieved a new international accomplishment, winning the Gold Stevie Award in the category of Professional Development Solution for its Immersive VR Geospatial Training Program. The honor was announced during the Stevie Awards ceremony held in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, as part of the 22nd session of the International Business Awards. This year's competition was fiercely contested, featuring the participation of more than 3,800 projects from 78 countries, underscoring the global significance of GEOSA's achievement in training innovation.

The “VR Geospatial Training Program” initiative, through which GEOSA won this award, comes as a result of GEOSA's tireless endeavour to build and develop national geospatial capabilities, raise awareness, enhance knowledge and innovation in the field of geospatial. On the other hand, its aims to facilitate advanced practical training and qualification by providing an interactive geospatial training environment that enables trainees to benefit from qualifying training programs from anywhere, and at any time by using virtual reality technologies that simulate practical or educational environments, allowing trainees to interact directly by using VR glasses and special control tools.

GEOSA's winning of this international award is a recognition of the Kingdom's experience in building and developing national geospatial infrastructure, which comes by paid tribute to the support of the Kingdom’s wise leadership – that let the Kingdom was indeed able to press on with its leading role through an active membership in the competent international organizations and committees operating in the field, achieving rapid progress in global geospatial indicators and rankings, and winning a number of relevant international awards both on the regional and international levels.

It is noteworthy that, GEOSA is an official body assigned to regulate the sector of survey, geospatial information and imaging in the Kingdom, including building national capacities in cooperation with universities and specialized institutes with the kingdom ad abroad.
