MEWA signs memorandum of cooperation with GASGI

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment Water & Agriculture “MEWA”, Dr. Osama Faqiha, signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Acting President of General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information “GASGI” Dr. Bandar Al-Muslamani, with the aim of making use of data, information, experiences, available capabilities and coordination in areas of mutual interest, at the headquarters of the Environment Agency at the MEWA in Riyadh.
The memorandum focuses on developing joint cooperation between the two sides in the field of environmental business and projects, integrating work with data governance and exchanging geospatial information, making use of the national geospatial platform and using Saudi Arabia National Spatial Reference System (SANSRS), applying national standards for all environmental work to ensure data integrity, raising the level of business planning, uniting efforts and avoiding duplication. In addition to qualifying and training human cadres, organizing seminars, conferences, and related workshops, in addition to exchanging expertise and technical consultations in common areas, supporting research activities between the two parties and partnership in supporting efforts to introduce the products of both parties and raising community awareness.
For his part, Dr. Al-Muslamani expressed his happiness with the joint work with the MEWA in order to serve national goals and work side by side in accordance with what achieves and advances the public interest, referring to the important efforts made by GASGI to build and develop the national geospatial infrastructure. In the survey and geospatial information sector, stressing their intention to continue working to upgrade, supervise and monitor the sector to achieve quality and improve performance, and to provide data, products, services, electronic applications, topographic and aerial maps.
The cooperation between the two parties comes within the framework of the qualitative partnerships that MEWA undertakes with all governmental and non-governmental agencies. To enhance the sector, raise performance efficiency, maintain sustainability and service partners, and work with all sectors to achieve the Kingdom's 2030 vision.​
